Design Brief
A contemporary entertainer's yard in Santa Clarita: a clean-lined pool and spa, a full outdoor kitchen and a concrete-paver patio with turf accents.
Site Obstacles & Engineering
The yard was a flat, blank rectangle with no vertical interest and heat exposure most of the afternoon.
Key Decisions
Strong horizontal lines, a raised spa for elevation change and turf inlays give the yard depth, while the kitchen was positioned to keep cooking out of the main sun path.
Final Outcome
The completed space includes rectilinear pool geometry matched to the architecture; raised spa with spillway; turf inlay bands breaking up the paver field.
