What We Build

Fence line, gate and access control designed together — so the entrance looks intentional.

Horizontal Wood Fencing

Clear cedar, redwood and thermally modified wood in horizontal slat layouts — the most requested privacy fence in Sherman Oaks, Studio City and Encino.

Vinyl & Composite Fencing

Zero-maintenance vinyl and composite panels that hold their color, with steel-reinforced posts on tall privacy runs.

Aluminum & Steel Fencing

Powder-coated aluminum and welded steel in horizontal picket, louvered or perforated panel designs — modern, secure and long-lived.

Pool Safety Barriers

Removable mesh, glass and metal pool fencing built to California's pool enclosure requirements, including self-closing, self-latching gate hardware.

Privacy Walls & Screens

Block walls, stucco walls, stone veneer and slat screen structures for tight lots where a fence alone won't buy privacy.

Driveway & Pedestrian Gates

Custom swing, slide and cantilever gates in wood, aluminum or steel — designed to match the fence line and the house, not fight them.

Gate Automation & Access

Operators, safety photo eyes and edges, keypads, video intercoms, remotes and smartphone access, wired and permitted properly.

Fire-Zone & Coastal Fencing

Non-combustible fencing details for Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, and 316 stainless hardware for salt-air coastal properties.

Fence Materials Compared

Wood

Best for: warmth, privacy, design flexibility

Horizontal cedar and redwood look best and cost least up front, but need sealing and eventually replace. Steel posts set in concrete roughly double the usable life.

Vinyl

Best for: maintenance-free privacy

No painting, no rot, easy to wash. Limited color and profile range, and cheap panels can bow in long sun-exposed runs unless reinforced.

Aluminum

Best for: modern look, coastal lots, gates

Corrosion-proof, light enough for large gate leaves, powder-coated in any finish. Not a full privacy screen unless spec'd as louvered or solid panel.

Steel

Best for: security, estate gates, spans

Strongest option and the right choice for wide driveway gates. Must be primed and coated properly, especially within a few miles of the coast.

Glass

Best for: view lots and pool barriers

Frameless or channel-set tempered glass keeps sightlines open while satisfying pool barrier code. Requires precise footing and hardware work.

Block & Stucco Walls

Best for: sound, security, permanence

Best acoustic and privacy performance. Engineered footings and, above certain heights, a permit and structural review.

Height Limits, Pool Code & Permits

  • Most California cities cap rear and side yard fences at 6 feet and front yard fences around 3.5 to 4 feet without a permit or variance.
  • Corner lots have sight-visibility triangles at the driveway and intersection where fence height is restricted — this catches homeowners out constantly.
  • Pool barriers must be at least 60 inches high with no gaps a 4-inch sphere can pass, no climbable horizontal members on the outside, and self-closing, self-latching gates that swing away from the pool.
  • Automated driveway gates must meet UL 325 safety requirements — photo eyes, safety edges and proper entrapment protection are not optional.
  • Fences on a property line are a shared responsibility under California's Good Neighbor Fence Act; we recommend documenting the agreement before we start.
  • Fire-zone properties should avoid combustible fencing attached directly to the structure — we detail the first several feet in non-combustible material.
  • Hillside and retaining conditions can turn a fence into an engineered structure; we identify that before design, not mid-build.

Building a pool? Pool barrier fencing is a permit requirement — see our pool construction page.

3

Permits & HOA

We handle permits where required and prepare HOA architectural submittals for gated communities.

4
