My Design Process
Step 1: Listen More Than Talk
The first consultation isn't about me showing off portfolio photos. It's about understanding how YOU live. How do you use your outdoor space? Who's coming over? What frustrates you about your current backyard?
Step 2: Create Options, Not Ultimatums
I'll typically present 2-3 design concepts at different price points. There's no pressure to go big—sometimes the mid-tier option is exactly right.
Step 3: Sweat the Details
Lighting placement. Drainage slopes. Traffic flow patterns. These 'boring' details are what separate a good backyard from a great one.
